What To Know

Before Your Appointment

A little preparation before your chimney sweep helps us work efficiently and keeps your home protected throughout the process. Here’s what you need to know to get ready for your appointment.

When booking, please give us as much information about your property as possible – whether you have a house or bungalow, how many floors, how many chimneys, and the type of fireplace or stove you have. This helps us bring the right equipment and allow enough time for the job.

Getting Ready

How To Prepare

Before we arrive, please remove any items from around the fireplace and clear the hearth area. If you have ornaments, fire tools, or furniture close to the fire, moving these out of the way gives us room to work safely and protects your belongings from any dust or debris. Please also make sure the fireplace is completely cold - no fires should be lit for at least 24 hours before your appointment. Remove any remaining fuel, ash, or embers from the grate so we can access the chimney properly. If you have a wood burner or stove, please ensure the door can be opened fully and that the area around the appliance is clear.

Our Process

Keeping Your Home Clean

We take great care to protect your home while we work. Before starting any sweep, we lay heavy-duty dust sheets in front of the fireplace and use specially designed soot cloths to seal the opening and contain any debris. This keeps soot and dust from spreading into your room. On wet days, we'll also lay protective sheets from your front door through to the fireplace to protect your flooring. Once the sweep is complete, we clean up thoroughly and leave your fireplace area tidy. You won't be left with any mess - just a clean, safe chimney ready to use.
